Check out: Daytrotter

Daytrotter contains live sessions from indie musicians--- sometimes they perform the songs pretty close to the recording and other times they experiement with different takes. check out Bon Iver, Cold War Kids, Colour Revolt, Kevin Devine/Andy Hull's "Just Stay" collab, so many more--there are literally hundreds of sessions and all of the songs are free to download. what.what.

Brothers. (at least jake gyllenhaal looked good)

I didn't really get what it was even about. I don't think the film spent enough time dealing with any of the issues that it brought up. (The brothers relationship, their relationship with their father, the war-- what Sam (Maguire) "had to do",---or why that one little girl was so damn pouty. I didn't buy Natalie Portman as a mom. I didn't buy Jake Gyllenhaal as a BANK ROBBER WITH A NECK TATTOO..so really by the end of the film I concluded that I find Jake Gyllenhaal more attractive with some facial hair.. so yea.

Recently Watched: Extract

Just. not. good. I watched a few episodes from season 2 of Arrested Development and was on a Bateman kick, so I decided to order this mediocre piece of.. yeah the story just wasn't that great and it wasn't very funny. I still love Jason Bateman though...

QUOTEworthy Conan O'Brien (last show)

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Sam Rockwell is kind of amazing.

His performance was really amazing. I can't go into detail about the movie because I don't want to spoil the plot, but it's really different from anything I've ever seen. The director said that he wrote the film for Rockwell which I found pretty cool--and I think it worked out. Go see it.

Yeah. That's Right.

I saw New Moon last night with Heather, and I have to say it was entertaining/hilarious. I think our commentary is vital to anyone seeing the movie. We should probably do the dvd commentary screw the cast.

I chose this picture because they all look like um yeah we are the kids from that vampire movie..
This film like the original was full of really bad messages for children, but who doesn't love those right? Bella was suicidal (always cool), a shut in (hmm, I dont think thats been made sexy yet, but ok), an emotional wreck (hmmm redeemingly sexy with passion, right?) YEAH her character is completely ridiculous. And let me just say Team Edward vs Team Jacob..how about TEAM REAL BOY or TEAM MORTAL or some shit I MEAN REALLY!

Recently Watched: The Hurt Locker

I have to say I was a little disappointed. While I thought that Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie gave compelling performances, I didn't think that there was much of a plot. Maybe thats the point that people go to war..crazy stuff happens..they may or may not die.. and when they come home the cycle continues with a new batch of guys. I also wasn't a big fan of the shaky camera/ frantic closeups. Overall I thought it was entertaining, but I don't know maybe it was hyped up too much for me to go in with an open mind.

Manchester Orchestra to play Recher Theatre

Manchester Orchestra is playing the Recher Theatre on Monday, April 5th. Not too thrilled about the Recher. I'd rather go to the Ottobar, but I guess it'll be nice to not have to worry about getting stabbed.

MGMT-- Making of Kids-- Questions Answered

Recently Watched: An Education

Today I went to The Charles and saw "An Education." I hadn't heard anything about the film so I went in having just watched the trailer. It started off ok, but then some things just didn't work.--- 1.) Peter Sarsgarrd being British..his accent wasn't very good, he sounded American whenever he raised his voice 2.) Peter Sarsgarrd "the charmer"-- no not buying that either. He seemed like a creeper but was supposed to be played as a smooth guy that could talk his way through anything. 3.) The plot.. 4.) The characters.. I cared about none of them..and disliked all of them. 5.) The relationships --didn't understand Mulligans attraction to Sarsgarrd.

yea so I didn't care for this movie and felt like I was going to fall asleep in the middle of it. on the bright side the Turtle at Sofies Crepes is pretty tasty.

"It is a fuckload of work to be open-minded and generous and understanding and forgiving and accepting, but Christ, that is what matters."

I finally watched: Boogie Nights

This film really sucked me in. I put it on pretty late and wasn't planning on finishing all 2 hrs and 32 minutes.. but I DIDDDD. It really just keeps on going. The director chose to follow a great deal of characters which I think worked and made it that much more entertaining. It was an interesting mix of humor, drama, WTF and cocaine. I had seen the famous drug deal scene on tv and it was still pretty hilarious.** Major points for using Sister Christian, Jesse's Girl and 99 Luft Balloons.

Recently Watched: Up in the Air

At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I was in a packed theater and I had to sit next to an older woman who took my arm rest..but it really picked up after the first half hour, and I became more invested in each of the characters. All of the leads did a great job, but I have to say it could have used more Bateman and Galifianakis...

5 Things I'll say about BRUNO

1. "I ain't any one of them, I'm DONNY"... one of the funniest lines ever..

2. The karate teacher..WTF..seriously. He wasn't phased at any point in that segment?

3. The Swingers Club..WOW. Why did those people agree to be filmed..

4. The wrestling scene was hilarous but those rednecks may have been too easy of targets.

5. I think Cohen gave a better "performance" in this film than in Borat--he was more believable even though he was more over the top..
