Take a listen to Neutral Milk Hotel

I love how weird I find their music, yet how much it all works for me. Today I was getting ready and I had my Ipod on shuffle and Two Headed Boy pt2 came on..what a good song. Take a listen!

Been listening to:

As if the Radiohead original version wasn't depressing enough I have to go and get obsessed with David Bazan's cover. I wish I wouldn't have missed his concert at the Ottobar. (I always miss out on good shows at the Ottobar like Colour Revolt!) I saw on youtube he played Bad Diary Days..I'd almost rather not know if he played Criticism as Inspiration....because that is one of my favorite songs..ever. I got back from California at like 2am on Saturday and the show was Sunday night.. and it like my french hw..slipped.my.mind.

I have liked this for some time.

...and I think you will too. It is from Zach's "Live at the Purple Onion" DVD. You should check out the whole movie, but this excerpt with "Seth" is great!

I actually saw this pre-Hangover and resent people that refer to Zach Galifianakis as the fat guy from The Hangover. He transcends that!

I want to read this:

I saw Sarah Silverman on the morning show that I don't like..(the one without Ann Cury.) She spoke a bit about her book "The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee," and it sounded pretty interesting---she wet the bed in high school! I think Sarah Silverman is funny (most of the time) and I am interested in HER PAIN. This will be the first thing I read post-graduation. I'm into high brow stuff.

Films I want to see:

Adrift
the runaways

the kids are alright

Coachella was probably fun..

Stereogum just posted this on twitter. I thought it was pretty good... I know the song from the prom episiode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia...one of my fav epi's. I probably heard it on the radio when I was a baby or something because it sounded familiar to me when I heard it on the show...

Knife never gets old.

Grizzly Bear's Knife is one of my favorite songs ever. I actually discovered it through the mash up Roc Knife... a mash w/ Jay-Z's ROC Boys. The third version of the song that I found is a Girl Talk remix. It's been coming up on my ipod's shuffle a lot so I thought I'd share!

Katie's Thoughts on Pop Culture: Characature drawings

I had a friend that had an ugly one on her wall, and I never understood 1) why she got it done in the first place and 2) why she hung it on her wall. I can't imagine sitting down and paying someone to insult me. If someone is going to draw me, I either want it to be true to life or BETTER THAN REALITY... not take-a-feature-of-mine-that-perhaps isn't the best-and exaggerate it to the point where I look fugly. The worst part is that they have these booths set up at places where you are supposed to be having fun..like Hershey Park... so your having a fun day and then failed art student #3495849385 makes you look like you have dumbo ears and its all over from there..your friends turn to you.."WAIT YOU DO HAVE BIG EARS"...im just saying its a bad idea.

Maryland Film Festival is comiiing

Looking up the movies... this one looks good.
Although the whole "post grad" thing might be too relatable..

"They're setup for you to fail.... You took the bait Katie. You took the bait."

Why I do that?

Drinking games with movies...don't do em.
Even after cutting out like 3/7 of the rules..just. too. much.
I'm going on a freakin detox. NO ALCOHOL, WHO IS WITH ME!?

Katie's thoughts on Pop Culture: "Doctor shows"

This is a new topic that I am starting, get used to it.

(Disclaimer: I have insomnia and no cable in my room.)

So maybe I saw too many episodes of Greys Anatomy at 3am this past winter but it made me think about the following:

I hope when/if I am ever in an ER having some type of life saving surgery/procedure that the doctors that are standing over me aren't secretly thinking about banging each other, but instead how to pull the bullet out of my heart, take the tumor out of me, etc...

p.s the doctor show that im currently watching (looking over my shoulder every couple mins at) has a guy that is way too good looking to be a doctor. he looks like an extreme sports athelete.

Recently Watched: Revanche

Wow.. I waited way too long to watch this movie.

There were several surprising moments, but they always worked for me because it all seemed to unfold organically.

I liked the way that the outdoor spaces were shot to look open and free, while all of the indoor spaces were really tight and claustrophobic.

All of the actors gave really good performances, particularly the male lead. Sometimes revenge movies are annoying and overally dramatic, but this was a really pure story to me, I didn't feel it was something that I'd seen before.

Go see it.

check demmm kids out

an update on my media intake or lack there of..

So I've been really busy with stuff for school, I haven't had much time to watch movies or obsess about any new bands! I completely forgot about the David Bazan concert at the Ottobar..so that sucks. I've also had Revanche out from Netflix for over a month...I think I'm going to watch it on Easter..that seems appropriate because it has a hooker and guns and stuff..so..

(photo by: Joyce Kim from the set of Putty Hill)

But anyway. I did have the chance to see Matt Porterfield's film Hamilton and his new film Putty Hill. And I have to say they were pretty amazing! I watched Hamilton twice...and I think I watched Putty Hill four times.. If you get a chance you should check it out at the Maryland Film festival in early May! You won't be disappointed ..the film is pretty innovative..I really can't compare it to anything else. Plus its shot in Baltimore, c'mon people thats just awesome! Much of it is shot outdoors and its reminds me of my childhood.. it made me think about how awesome Baltimore can be in the summer.
